Buriram agencies join forces to end human trafficking

BANGKOK, Sept 11 —  The Social Development and Human Security Office in Thailand’s northeastern province of Buriram joined forces with 60 agencies in the province in combating human trafficking and violence against children and women.

A signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the Buriram Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office and 60 other agencies was held at Thepnakorn Hotel yesterday to mark their cooperation to prevent and otherwise combat violence against children and women and all forms of trafficking in persons as well as to provide human rights protection, professional assistance and support to the victims.

According to report, violence against children and women, domestic violence and human trafficking increases every year. The agreement demonstrates a commitment to reduce such crimes which violate the rights of people and affect both individuals and society as a whole.

Participating agencies include the Office of Provincial Public Prosecution, Office of Provincial Juvenile and Family Litigation, Office of People’s Rights Protection and Legal Aid, Office of Provincial Legal Execution, leaders of civil service offices and educational institutions, local administrative organizations and other concerned agencies.
