Pattaya City Sanitation Department workers assist residents in flood-hit areas to dispose of their water-ruined household furniture at no cost.

The garbage dump on Sukhumvit Soi 3 is letting Pattaya residents dispose of their flood-damaged furniture for free.

City Councilman Nikom Sangkaew visited flooding victims in the Soi Khopai Community Sept. 26, with many complaining that their furniture and property were ruined and they needed to dispose of it. The councilman arranged for Pattaya’s garbage collectors to pick it up.

Dumping of furniture and other large items has become a problem this year during a historically wet rainy season. Mayor Poramet Ngampichet assigned sanitation employees to step up patrols along deserted roads to prevent vacant lots and woodlands from becoming ad-hoc dumps.

He said the garbage-transfer station on Sukhumvit Soi 3 is waiving fees to dispose of large items until further notice.
