KHON KAEN, Sept 16 — Several provinces in Thailand are still underwater while more rainfall is forecast across the country through Thursday.

Flooding continues in the northeastern province of Khon Kaen.

The water level at the School for the Blind in Khon Kaen provincial seat was measured at 60 centimetres today.

Teachers had to transport children to the school by boat.

Residents in southern Krabi province had to move household items to higher floors after Monday’s heavy rain caused Klong Krabi Yai to flood nearby houses and oil palm plantations.

In southern Trang province, canals overflowed covering more than 2000 rais of rubber and oil palm plantation in Trang provincial seat.

Four districts have been declared flood- and landslide-prone zones so far, including Na Yong, Huai Yod, Yan Ta Khao and Palian districts.

The Meteorological Department (TMD), meanwhile, said today that Typhoon Kalmaegi is moving from China’s Hainan Island, expected to make a landfall over upper Vietnam, bringing heavy rain through Thursday in Thailand, especially the North, Northeast, Eastern and Southwest coast.
