PM orders all units to help Thais affected by Itaewon tragedy

Acting government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said the prime minister ordered full assistance for Thais affected by the tragedy in Itaewon area in its Halloween festival on Saturday night.

Prime Minister Prayut General Chan-o-cha ordered all relevant organizations to help Thai people affected by the Itaewon incident in Seoul.

Acting government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said the prime minister ordered full assistance for Thais affected by the tragedy in Itaewon area in its Halloween festival on Saturday night.



“The prime minister expressed his concern and ordered relevant organizations to do their best to help the Thai people who were affected by the situation in South Korea. They were also instructed to ensure the safety of people and tourists and to strictly implement safety measures at venues of activities,” Mr Anucha said.

Tanee Sangrat, spokesman of the Foreign Ministry, said the Thai embassy in Seoul reported that one Thai woman from Phetchabun was killed in the Itaewon incident. She went to South Korea to learn the Korean language and there were no other casualties among Thai people.



Another Thai person who was earlier reported as missing in the Itaewon crush was finally found to be safe, Mr Tanee said.
The Itaewon crowd crush took 154 lives and injured 149 people including 33 seriously injured ones.


In Thailand, the Royal Thai Police Office ordered its personnel to coordinate public safety with business operators and event organizers who were advised to check venue exits and entrances, limit the number of visitors and search people for weapons. (TNA)
