Makro Cash & Carry showed off its large selection of frozen foods to hotel, retail and business customers at its annual “HoReCa Day” event.

Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh was on hand as the wholesaler hosted its largest customers for the Sept. 23 exhibition, which helped hotel kitchens, retail shops and others add more diversity to their menus.

General Manager Songtawat Panumatrakul said the event has been held for five years and always attracts crowds. This year, he said, the show is focused on preparation of frozen foods. The store brought in professional chefs to show how to get the best out of the products.

Marine Harvest Co. showed how to prepare frozen dishes properly, assisted by Surasak Pankluab, head of the Chefs Association of Pattaya and East Coast.

Various dishes were cooked as examples, including salmon sushi, salmon “saab” and seafood “olawee krataeng” from the KCG Corp.; and spicy prawns and grilled tuna with wasabi sauce by chef Pornsak Rodchiwi.

Surasak also noted this will be the last HoReCa show before the start of the Asian Economic Community.

Makro is preparing for the AEC, which will see the liberalization of product sales, he said. It’s a great opportunity for Thai businesses to get more customers.

Makro, he added, will improve its product lineup and add branded services at reasonable prices for the AEC.
