Thailand’s new armed forces chiefs take office

BANGKOK, Oct 1 Thailand’s new armed forces chiefs are among the government officials assuming office today, and some attended ceremonies to officially receive their new responsibilities.

At the Royal Air Force Academy, Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong handed over his position as air force chief position to his successor ACM Treetod Sonjance.

ACM Prajin asked air force officers to develop the Royal Thai Air Force to be a leader in the region.

His successor promised to proceed with the air force’s strategies, boost ties with friendly nations and support the government

At the Royal Thai Navy headquarters, Adm Narong Pipatanasai passed on his Navy chief position to Adm Kraisorn Chansuvanich.

The new Navy chief encouraged subordinates to devote themselves to their work and be proud of their naval services.

New Army chief Gen Udomdej Sitabutr who succeeded Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha yesterday vowed to protect Thailand’s national sovereignty and the royal institution, maintain border peace and good relations with neighboring countries, ensure national peace and discuss different political stances through the forums of the National Reform Council.
