IPGC Pattaya Golf Society at Rabbi’s Elephant Bar

The Pattaya Golf Society travelled the short distance to Pattaya Country Club on Friday, 10th June, to play a stableford event on the course which was in good condition with very quick and consistent greens.

A large field was assembled, probably because the group has ignored the attractions of the course for a few years now, but the current low season deal is very attractive and many were thus playing the track for the first time.

In fourth place were Don Nellis, playing on the eve of his trip to Malaysia, and Wichai Tananusorn, also considering an early departure for England next week and they both returned scores of 31 points.

In third place was Ronnie Ramsay with 32 points and Alan Duckett from Jomtien managed to go one better and record 33 points for second place.

The winner, a rarity this, was Scottish golfer Peter Duncan and this was a day which saw him at the top of his game with only 27 putts all round, including nine singles and some very accurate and long hitting from the tees and fairways.  Of all the golfers in the field Peter was by far the most deserving winner, an honour he rarely enjoys.

The only birdie ‘2’ of the day came on the fifth and it was recorded by Tony Cave after his fine tee shot stopped four feet from the hole.  The Booby Bevy was awarded “in absentia” to Bryan Barrell after the high handicapper failed to impress with the day’s lowest score.

Pattaya Country Club had certainly made a fine effort on the day to provide the PGS golfers with a fine day out.
