Bangkok Airways launches four new routes from Chiang Mai

Bangkok, 29 October, 2014 – Bangkok Airways has launched four new non-stop services from Chiang Mai to Phuket, Udon Thani and Myanmar (Mandalay and Yangon) from 26 October 2014.

Ms. Ariya Prasarttong-Osoth, Vice President – Sales of Bangkok Airways said Bangkok Airways recognised Chiang Mai as another important hub for Thailand’s tourism industry.

“By utilising Chiang Mai International Airport as another hub, it will enhance Bangkok Airways’ ability to support the growing demand for air travel when the AEC takes place in 2015.  It will also allow us to provide better flight connections for our passengers who wish to continue their travel to the Northeastern and Southern part of Thailand as well as to the neighbouring country Myanmar without having to fly back to Suvarnabhumi Airport to connect to those destinations.”

The airline is operating two flights daily on the Chiang Mai – Udon Thani route using a 70-seat ATR72-500 aircraft, and a daily flight on the Chiang Mai – Phuket route using an Airbus A320 aircraft with seat capacity of 162.

Connections with Myanmar include the Chiang Mai – Mandalay route with three flights weekly and the Chiang Mai – Yangon service with four flights a week. The airline operates both routes using an ATR72-500 aircraft with seat capacity of 70.

Bangkok Airways is currently offering special web promotion fares on these four new routes.  For instance, Chiang Mai–Phuket (single trip) starts from just 2,290 Baht, Chiang Mai-Udon Thani (single trip) starts from just 1,590 Baht, Chiang Mai-Mandalay (single trip) starts from just 1,445 Baht (fares exclude taxes and surcharges).
