Walking Street businesses gained a bit more time before having to remove their signature signing and install new ones close to their venues.
Business owners were warned in November that Pattaya will begin removing signs that don’t comply with new rules starting in February. As usual, that’s not going to happen on time.
Deputy Mayor Manote Nongyai said Feb. 4 that delays in relocating telecommunications wires underground has delayed the removal of utility poles. That work now is expected to last through March, which means that existing neon signs must be replaced by April.
The new regulations require signs to be placed parallel to a business’ walls, not perpendicular to the street. Signs cannot extend more than 60 centimeters from the venue.
