BANGKOK, Oct 29 — The new director-general of Thailand’s Department of Special Investigation (DSI) started her first working day today, while the Justice Minister visited her department to brief her on his policies.
Appointed by the cabinet, DSI Director-General Suwana Suwanjuta today began her new responsibilities.
She is the first woman to take the top job at the department.
Meanwhile, Justice Minister Paiboon Khoomchaya visited the department and laid down his policies to its staff.
The minister told them to improve the image of the DSI and make it acceptable among general people.
Through October 15, the DSI had 1,803 cases.
It finished investigating 1,465 cases, or 81.25 per cent of all cases. It has yet to finish probing 362 cases.
Of the completed cases, the DSI sent 1,169 to the Office of the Attorney General, 116 to the National Anti-Corruption Commission, and two to the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission.
The DSI either halted investigation or imposed fines on 178 cases.
