Diplomatic representatives from 28 countries have been scheduled to take part in a two-day tour of northeastern Thailand, starting February 23, to experience the local culture and way of life.
The tour, organized by the Ministry of Culture, has been scheduled to take the delegates to Udon Thani and Nong Bua Lamphu provinces, where they will have the opportunity to visit World Heritage sites and inspect local arts, artifacts, cuisines, and folk wisdom.
Deputy Permanent Secretary for Culture Yuthika Isarangkura Na Ayutthaya said such tours had been regularly organized since 2008, adding that Udon Thani is famous for its archaeological wonders, with Ban Chiang being a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1992, while Nong Bua Lamphu is also steeped in cultural attractions and handicraft villages.
The diplomatic guests have also been scheduled to visit historical sites and cultural attractions, including Phu Prabhut historical park, Ban Non Kok traditional weaving center, the Ban Chiang national museum, Pho Sri Nai temple, and the Khwanta learning and design center.
Udon Thani Mayor, Thanadon Puttarak, has emphasized that the province boasts many amenities, including first-class hotels, top-notch golf courses, state-of-the-art racecourses, and a modern international airport. He noted that the tour would serve as a significant catalyst in fostering stronger relationships between participating nations and Thailand and showcasing the diverse and vibrant cultural heritage of the northeastern region of Thailand.
