Five Chinese nationals were arrested when Pattaya-area police raided a loan-sharking call center set up in a luxury rental home.
Chonburi police chief Pol. Maj. Gen. Kumpol Leelapraphaporn led Nongpure and Immigration police to the M Mountain Village house rented for 180,000 baht a month April 11.
Alleged ring leader Fu Yin-Ter, 36, Hu Xiao-Wei, 41, Lin Yong-Pin, 29, Ji Liu-Ne, 29, and Tang Wei, 35, were arrested and charged with either overstaying their visas or working without a permit. They will be processed for deportation.
Police also seized eight computer notebooks, 12 cell phones, 50 used SIM cards and a list of more 100 victims.
Kumpol said the call center was aimed at extorting money out of compatriots back in China. Banking receipts showed turnover in the tens of millions of baht.
