BANGKOK, Nov 26 — Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha will pay an official visit to Malaysia on Monday and is expected to appoint Thailand’s negotiation team to renew peace talks with southern insurgents before he leaves for Kuala Lumpur.

National Security Council (NSC) Secretary-General Anusit Kunakorn said after today’s cabinet’s meeting that the plan for Gen Prayut’s one-day visit to Malaysia remains unchanged.

Regarding the renewed peace talks between the Thai government and southern insurgent groups, he said Gen Prayut will appoint the negotiating teams before going to Malaysia.

The team will consist of representatives from the Foreign Ministry, the NSC and the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC).

He added that the Thai prime minister has no plan to visit Thai South yet but he ordered all agencies to review and adjust operations and allocate budget to meet demand of local residents.

So far, the integrated operations of separate agencies have gone smoothly, supported by clear action plans, he said.
