Vagabond’s slingshot narrowly misses Pattaya motorbike taxi driver’s eye

The homeless man who used a slingshot to target people on the street is led to the Pattaya police station in handcuffs. Nattapol Namman (inset) was hit just above his right eye, causing a deep gash in his eyebrow.

A motorbike taxi driver was seriously injured after a homeless man aimed a slingshot at him inflicting a deep gash above his right eye.

Nattapol Namman said that on evening of May 20, as he was waiting for customers in front of Drinking Street on Pattaya Second Road, he suddenly heard the sound of an object striking a metal fence, followed by a painful blow to his leg. Looking up in agony, he saw a homeless man with a slingshot in his hand.



Other motorbike taxi drivers tried to stop the assailant, but he avoided their capture. He reloaded his slingshot and fired back at the men. Luckily, one of the stones narrowly missed Nattapol’s eye, hitting him in the right eyebrow inflicting a deep gash.

Bystanders quickly pounced on the perp and pinned him to the ground, before police arrived to arrest the deranged homeless man.



Pattaya City has been grappling with a significant number of homeless individuals occupying the streets and abandoned buildings, leading to disturbances for both residents and tourists. These incidents have caused considerable damage to the city’s reputation. Despite the efforts of various agencies involved, city officials have yet to find a lasting solution to address the ongoing challenges of these vagabonds.
