Monday, Nov. 17, Plutaluang – Stableford

We played Plutaluang today on the East and South loops in great weather with just a little high cloud and a nice breeze.  The course was in great condition, even the greens were fast and true, and we got around in just over four hours.  It was good to see the lake back up to the right level also.

George Barrie was back playing again after a week in bed with the flu and it did reflect in his score with him taking the NAGA award with a fantastic 15 points.  We had Don Walding and his good mate Dean Hart from Perth join us today and Don was a little worried he would take last place, but he didn’t plan on George being so sick.

It was a three-way count back for second, third and fourth on 35 points with Brian Maddox taking fourth spot, third going to Owen Walkley and second to Eng Cotterell.  But it was a Captain Bob day today as he won by an 8 point margin with 43 points, his best round in a long time.

There were two ‘2’s, coming from Phil Waite and Bob Philp.

Wednesday, Nov. 19, Green Valley – Stableford

Green Valley was the place to be on Wednesday with the temperature just right for golf and the course in magnificent condition, all it really needs is to be put back the right way and it would be a pleasure to play instead of walking across 2 fairways to get to the first hole and 3 fairways to get off the course.

The greens were as slippery as hell, which made for tricky putting all day.  We had eight groups out here today and the scoring was very good indeed with count backs right down to 6th place, which was taken by Wayne Cotterell on 36 points, beating his wife on a count back, not a good thing to do mate!

In fifth place was Jonathan Pratt with 37 points, being beaten by Peter LeNoury on the same score but with 20 points to Peter on the back nine.  Third was Roger Ison with 38 points, also being beaten on count back by John Locke, but once again it was Captain Bob’s day, taking the line honours with 43 points.  The bell ring cost him though.

There were eight ‘2’s from Capt Bob, John Locke (2), Sa , George Barrie, William Macey, Auke and Richard Steadman.

Friday, Nov. 21, Burapha – Stableford

Burapha was not as busy as we would have thought it would be today and we played the round in just under 4 hours, which is great for this time of the year.  Playing A and B loops the layout was in fantastic condition with lightening fast green, as the scribe can attest with a few four putts and countless three putts, but that wasn’t the fault of the course.

We had one casualty today with one of the Aussie boys playing one shot only and doing his shoulder in so in the best of spirits he just went along for the ride and had a few beers.

There were only three players who scored in the 30s, everyone else was in the twenties although there was one player who scored a massive 18 points total.  Coming in at number three today was Don Walding with 32 points, second went to Mal Farquharson with 33 and taking top spot was John Locke with 36.  There were five ‘2’s but as the field was a little light on there were no prizes for them.
