Move Forward Party leader Pita Limcharoenrat and Bangkok governor Chadcahrt Sittipunt on Monday attended the publicity campaign to promote Bangkok Pride event in June and Bangkok’s bid to host the World Pride in 2028.
The activities, held at the Bangkok Art and Culture Center include an art exhibition, showcasing works of LGBTQ+ artists ahead of the Bangkok Pride parade from Pathumwan intersection to Ratchaprasong intersection, scheduled on June 4.
Mr. Pita said his new government and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will work together to support Thailand in hosting the World Pride in Bangkok in 2028 after Sydney, Washington DC and Amsterdam.
The event will not only stimulate the economy and tourism but also raise awarenesss about the equality of all citizens in terms of dignity, rights and freedom.
An agenda in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to form a coalition government led by MFP is legalization of same sex marriage. Among 45 bills to be proposed to the parliament, there are two bills related to gender equality, which are the Marriage Equality Bill and the Gender Identity Recognition Bill.
The goals must be achieved before Bangkok hosts the World Pride in 2028, he said. (TNA)
