Thai armed forces rehearse parade honouring King’s birthday

BANGKOK, Dec 1 — Thailand’s Chief of Defence Forces Gen Worapong Sanganetra yesterday led representatives of the three armed forces in a major rehearsal for a parade to celebrate His Majesty the King’s 87th birthday which falls on Friday, December 5. 

The actual parade will be held tomorrow with the public allowed to witness the ceremony in which royal guards from 12 battalions and a cavalry battalion will join in an oath of allegiance ceremony.

Several roads including Charoen Krung, Maharaj and Phra Arthit roads leading to the site of the ceremony will be closed from 4am to 4pm.

Traffic between Sanam Chai Road and Rajdamnoen Nai Avenue will be closed from 8am to 4pm tomorrow.
