BANGKOK, Dec 8 – The popularity of the three-month-old government of Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has declined slightly, but a majority of respondents still want him to continue ruling Thailand, according to a survey conducted by the Bangkok Poll.
The Bangkok University research centre survey of 1,158 persons nationwide showed that of the total 10 points, the government scored 6.52 points, 0.38 point less than the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) when it had run the country three months.
The NCPO, led by Gen Prayut, took over the state administration on May 22.
According to the Bangkok Poll, the government scored most in national security, earning 7.3 points while it earned the least with only 5.89 points in overseeing the economic sector.
Regarding satisfaction with Gen Prayut performing as prime minister for the past three months, the respondents gave 7.43 points, 0.33 points less than the NCPO after it ruled the country for three months.
The poll indicated that 53.8 per cent of respondents said Gen Prayut’s performance was much better than their earlier expectations.
Asked whether they would still vote for him to continue ruling the country as prime minister, 75 per cent said “Yes”, 5.5 per cent lower than the last survey conducted three months ago.
