Pattaya, Thailand – Residents of a Najomtien housing project are living in fear as a string of thefts and break-ins continue to plague the community. On June 30, multiple residents reported that their properties had been targeted and their homes ransacked, prompting concerns about the lack of security in the area.

One victim, Ms. Orawan Sonkhamharn, a 33-year-old businesswoman, discovered that her room had been burglarized after returning from dinner on June 26. Despite ensuring her door was securely locked, she found that the latch had been tampered with. A thorough search revealed that valuable items, including Thai baht coins, US dollars, Chinese Yuan, a gold amulet, rings, and a watch, worth over 10,000 baht, had been stolen. The intruder also audaciously took the CCTV camera installed in her room.

Orawan expressed her shock and concern, as she never expected to fall victim to such a crime. She called on the police to take immediate action and apprehend the culprits responsible for the burglaries. Another resident, a 60-year-old neighbor, also shared her harrowing experience of an attempted break-in, emphasizing the urgent need for the authorities to address the escalating security issues.

In addition to the burglaries, reports of stolen motorcycles in the vicinity have raised further alarm among the residents. Surveillance cameras have captured footage of these incidents, providing valuable evidence for investigation. However, the police have yet to make any arrests, leaving the community anxious and frustrated with the lack of progress in combating the crime wave.

Concerned residents are now taking extra precautions to protect their homes, such as reinforcing locks and considering the installation of additional security measures. They are hopeful that the authorities will prioritize their safety and work swiftly to put an end to the ongoing crime spree that has left the community on edge.
