Next PM vote set for next Thursday, says House Speaker

Mr. Wan Muhamad Nor said when the session commences, the names of potential prime minister candidates will be nominated and their qualifications will be discussed and if there are no issues, the voting will proceed according to the Constitution, Section 272.

House Speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha has scheduled the next prime ministerial vote for Thursday July 27.

He reiterated that Move Forward Party leader Pita will no longer be proposed after the parliament voted to reject his renomination on Wednesday with 395 votes against.



Mr. Wan Muhamad Nor said when the session commences, the names of potential prime minister candidates will be nominated and their qualifications will be discussed. If there are no issues, the voting will proceed according to the Constitution, Section 272.

The timeframe for the debate is not specified yet but initially, the debate on a candidate’s qualification should be completed by 5:00 PM before the voting begins



Currently, it is not known how many candidates will be nominated, but the person who receives more than 374 votes will become the Prime Minister.

When asked whether the Prime Ministerial vote on July 27 will be concluded on that day, Mr. Wan Muhamad said that he is unsure. However, the public wants the process to be completed quickly and have a Prime Minister soon. (TNA)
