The court has rescheduled for August 16 to consider whether it will accept the case for deliberation after the Ombubsman lodged the petition, asking the court to rule whether the parliamentary vote to reject the re-nomination of Pita Limjaroenrat is unconstitutional.

The Constitutional Court has decided to postponed considering the petition on the parliament’s rejection of the Move Forward party leader renomination as prime minister.

The court has rescheduled for August 16 to consider whether it will accept the case for deliberation after the Ombubsman lodged the petition, asking the court to rule whether the parliamentary vote to reject the re-nomination of Pita Limjaroenrat is unconstitutional.

A joint sitting of the two houses of parliament voted to reject the re-nomination on July 19, citing the parliamentary rule prohibits the resubmission of a failed motion in the same session. The Constitutional Court on Thursday did not issue an order to delay the next prime ministerial voting, scheduled for tomorrow.

After the court’s statement, Parliament President Wan Muhamad Noor Matha has postponed Friday’s planned joint sitting to vote for a new prime minister pending the Constitutional Court’s decision on the rejected re-nomination of Move Forward party leader. (TNA)
