The GLTA (Gay and Lesbian Tennis Alliance) held the Bangkok Pride International Gay Lawn Tennis tournament & banquet from December 4-7 at the Sports Centre of Chulalongkorn University.
The tournament, organised by Hein Jan Lapidaire, Uthai Makapin, Noom Dhamrongsak and Tanaisawan Buaraphet, saw players from 14 countries take part, including representatives from USA, Canada, England, Holland, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand.

The competition was divided into 10 groups and players who did not make it past the first qualifying round played against one another in a consolation group.
The results were good for the host nation with Thailand winning 3 championship medals in the Men’s Open (Thanaisawan Buaraphet), Men’s Singles C (Jakkrit Kammonamai) and Men’s Doubles C (Jakkrit Kammonmai and Nathapon Mongpraneet) events.
The tournament is now in its fifth year in Thailand, but has also been held in various other countries, including in Asia and Australia where its popularity is growing.
