The Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) have established a strategic partnership aimed at achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

The agreement focuses primarily on the “Three Transformative Results” that involve improving equitable access to family planning services, preventing maternal deaths, and stopping sexual violence and harassment.

The cooperation agreement was signed by UNFPA’s Thailand Office head, Sirilak Chiangwong, and TICA Director-General Ureerat Charoento, with Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs Saran Charoensuwan and the UN Country Coordinator in Thailand Kita Subbrawan as witnesses.

The head of UNFPA Thailand Office emphasized that the program was developed in conjunction with the principles of coexistence, human rights and equality, with special attention given to the needs of vulnerable groups.

She identified the main beneficiaries as women, adolescents, youths, people with disabilities, ethnic groups, and those living in poverty, adding that UNFPA would employ innovative approaches to reach even those in the most remote corners. (NNT)
