The Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases in Rayong has issued an arrest warrant for former culture minister Ittiphol Kunplome in connection with alleged malfeasance when he was the Pattaya Mayor.
Deputy spokesman of the Attorney General Kosolwat Inthuchanyong has confirmed the arrest warrant was issued on Tuesday after Ittiphol failed to show up for arraignment on charges related to allegedly approving a construction permit on Sept 10, 2008, to Bali Hai Co for the Waterfront condominium project at the foot of the Khao Phra Tamnak hill in the Pattaya City, Chonburi Province.
The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) filed the case to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) and the OAG ordered prosecution. Public prosecutors ordered him to report for the arraignment on Sept 4 but he failed to appear. The NACC then sought the arrest warrant, which was issued by the court on Sept 5. (TNA)
