Father suspected of killing children not mentally ill

The suspect identified as Mr. Songsak underwent mental health examination this morning based on his prior treatment history in 2013 and 2015 – the police said the latest update from medical professionals has confirmed that his claim of hearing voices and experiencing hallucinations is not true.

The father accused of brutally killing his 2-year-old daughter and suspected of killing more of his children is not mentally ill, shows the result of his psychiatric examination.

The suspect identified as Mr. Songsak underwent mental health examination this morning based on his prior treatment history in 2013 and 2015. The police said the latest update from medical professionals has confirmed that his claim of hearing voices and experiencing hallucinations is not true.



Upon examination, it was found that he can communicate and respond normally without any signs of mental health issues.

During his detention, news reporters attempted to question him about the incident. When asked if he killed and disposed of his four sons born to his second wife identified as Ms. Jedsada, Mr. Songsak responded with a brief denial, saying, “Not true.”



Superintendent of the Bang Khen police station Pol Col Anant Worasat disclosed that Mr. Songsak will be taken into custody at the Ratchada Criminal Court on charges of conspiring to murder or inflict bodily harm on others resulting in death, as well as concealing and destroying corpses.

As for his former wife Ms. Jedsada, no formal charges have been filed against her at this time. She claims that she did not physically commit the killings but was subjected to physical harm, coercion, and threats by Mr. Songsak, who forced her to dispose of the bodies.

The investigation on the alleged killings of his four sons aged between 1 and 10 months from 2013- 2018 began after he had been arrested for murdering his two year-old daughter born to his fourth wife. The girl’s body was concealed in cement at a home in Kamphaeng Phet province.



The police are searching for the remains of his dead children disposed of in Bangkok’s Sai Mai district. Two baby bodies found in Bang Sue district are being examined for identification.

So far, the police discovered bone fragments resembling the lower part of two arms. These bone fragments have now been collected and sent for further examination by the forensic team. (TNA)
