PRESS RELEASE: Thai chef Dej Kewkacha named ‘Pastry Talent of the Year’ at the La Liste Pastry Special Awards 2023.

Chef Dej was awarded for his dessert-only menu at Kyo Bar. Being the first chef in Southeast Asia to receive this award, he was among 25 pastry chefs and owners from 15 countries recognised at this year’s awards ceremony held in Paris on 7 September.

Chef Dej opened his first food business at 22 with his brothers, and now operates over 30 F&B outlets, including Thailand’s most popular Japanese dessert cafés, Kyo Roll En. But it’s his passion project, Kyo Bar that demonstrates his outstanding skill and creativity in the pastry field, thus marking him out as an exemplary talent even though he is self-taught.

La Liste is an independent restaurant founded in 2015. Its methodology is based on an algorithm integrating and weighting nearly 1,000 international sources. Depending on the country, these sources may be ratings and rankings from well-known restaurant guides, but also opinions from international, national, and regional press, as well as customers.
