Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin expressed profound condolences over the passing of Mr Aziz Phitakkumpon, the 18th Sheikhul Islam of the Kingdom of Thailand, according to government spokesman Chai Wacharonke.
The website of Sheikhul Islam Office has announced that following his medical treatment under Royal Patronage at Chulalongkorn Hospital, the 18th Sheikhul Islam returned to the mercy of Allah at 10.32am on October 22.
The Janazah Prayer in absentia (Solat Al Ghaib) for the 18th Sheikhul Islam of Thailand was held at 10am, on October 23, at the central mosque of Songkhla province. (TNA)
