‘Monkey Buffet Festival’ in Lopburi Nov 26

The festival, which is a distinctive Chinese-style banquet for monkeys, is scheduled for the last Sunday of November (Nov 26) and will consist of four rounds of feasts at 10 am, noon, 2 pm, and 4 pm, in the front courtyard of Phra Prang Sam Yot and other areas populated by monkeys.

Lopburi province is gearing up for its annual Monkey Buffet Festival, with a vibrant rehearsal recently held at the Phra Prang Sam Yot’s rear courtyard. The rehearsal, organized by Yongyut Kijwatthananusorn, president of the Lopburi Tourism Association, featured a spread of fruits, cookies, fruit juices, jelly, and Thai desserts for the long-tailed macaques.

Yongyut has extended an invitation to both Thai and foreign tourists, with the aim of making the festival a major attraction. Recognized as a creative tourism initiative, the festival is set to boost the local economy and rejuvenate Lopburi’s tourism sector. (NNT)
