PSC Golf from The Golf Club

Monday, Jan 19, Green Valley – Monthly Medal

1st Yazuru Yamasaki (18) 38pts

T2nd Alfie Butler (18) 35pts

T2nd David Deira (18) 35pts

Another fine day of weather as overcast skies for most of the round made it a great day of golf.  Winner Yazuru Yamasaki from Japan took a note from Kenny Aihara and won the day with a 38 point round on a course he is not that familiar with.  A tie for second with 35 points found (What’s it all about?) Alfie and Davey D. neck and neck so they split the ‘handsome man’ vouchers equally.

Wednesday, Jan. 21, Pattavia – Stableford

1st Mark Wood (7) 36pts

2nd Alfie Butler (18) 34pts

T3rd Mark Tilden (13) 32pts

T3rd David Ferris (24) 32pts

Yes, back to our favourite track and the most improved golf course of 2014.  This place features the most exciting greens in Chonburi, although today the course was a bit dry and hard in places.

It’s tough to turn in a card here with much more than a mid-thirty score on it, but Mark Wood shot better than most and equaled his handicap.  Mark is on a roll of late, and even with the whole family in town manages to keep his wits about him to focus on the game at hand.  Good goin’ Woody!

Alfie stays in form and took another second place, whilst TGC regulars mark Tilden and Dave Ferris tie for third.

Friday, Jan. 23, Khao Kheow – Stableford

T1st Barry Russell (6) 33pts

T1st Alfie Butler (18) 33pts

T1s Mark Wood (7) 33pts

T1st Bill Shepley (7) 33pts

What a funny old week for golf.  On Monday all the winners had an 18 handicap and today all the winners shot 33 points.  What are the odds of that?

Khao Kheow rewarded us today with better pin positions, as the greenskeeper finally made up with his wife.  They were rolling quickly out there, but true as an arrow so no reason to complain.  The rest of the course was absolute heaven and now is the time to get out and play Khao Kheow.  We all loved it!

As you can see from our leaderboard, a four-way tie ended another magic week of golf.  There is a reason January is the peak of the high season and perfect weather was with us once again.  Mark Wood finished on top for a sensational week, but visiting Irishman Alfie Butler was on the podium every golf day this week.

This weekend, many of us head up to Chiang Mai for the Mulberry Ryder Cup 2015 as 20 of England’s finest take on 20 of the best lads from The Rest of the World.  Follow our fortunes and foibles on our facebook page www.facebook.com/golfclubpattaya as we play the best golf courses in the far northwest of this beautiful country.
