PSC Golf from The Billabong Golf Bar

Monday, Jan. 19, Pattavia – Stableford

Pattavia on a beautiful day, the drive in there is getting better but the greens are still the fastest around.  With only a small field we were away on time and just cruised around the course which was in great condition and the new club house offers nice showers and good facilities.

Now back to the greens, they were just unbelievably fast, with four putts the norm on some of them.  As to the scores, the winner today was Noddy Moyle with a fine 34 points.  Second place went to John Locke with 30 and from there the scores went downhill with 17 points taking the golf lesson for the NAGA award, maybe get a putting lesson mate!

Wednesday, Jan. 21, Green Valley – Stableford

Playing Green Valley today, our usual venue for Wednesday, with ten groups and we got away a little early and were around in just over four hours.  We had 11 ladies playing today with us which was great to see; if the numbers keep going we will have a special division for the girls.

Kevin Hamilton, Wayne Cotterell and Noddy Moyle.Kevin Hamilton, Wayne Cotterell and Noddy Moyle.

The course was in grand condition, as always, but it does need a little water in places and whoever puts those plastic rings in the holes, please put them in future below the surface and not have them sticking 4 or 5mm above the green surface.

The scoring was great and playing to your handicap only got you into 5th place, which was taken by Vic Woolton with 36 points.  Third and fourth went to a count back on 37 points that Mal Farquharson was on the wrong end of, being beaten by one of the ladies Nu.  Second went to another lady, Noodle Russell, with 38 points but the clear winner today was Robbie Taylor with a fantastic 42.

There were three ‘2’s coming from Mark Lang, Thip and Bob Philp.

Friday, Jan. 23, Crystal Bay – Stableford

Playing Crystal Bay today where we hadn’t been for a while and probably won’t be back again until they start to water the course.  It’s a shame really as this is one of the best courses in the area and is certainly the scribe’s favourite.

Now just a suggestion: not everyone knows every rule in golf so if there is any doubt over a situation on the course, play two balls and get it sorted when you get back to the bar, that way there will be no animosity or bad feeling on the course.

The scores were fantastic today with most players getting over the 30 point mark.  In third spot was Kevin Hamilton with 39 points, just one behind Noddy Moyle in second with 40, but it was Cottee’s day today with a great 41 points.

There were two ‘2’s, coming from Greig Ritchie and Noddy Moyle.
