A massive fire damaged Linglong International Tyre Co. at Rayong’s Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate, causing about 1.3 billion baht in losses for one of China’s largest tire exporters. About 100 fire trucks from Rayong and Chachoengsao battled the blaze for about four hours.

About 100 fire trucks from Rayong and Chachoengsao battled the blaze for about four hours. Investigators the following day were still waiting for plumes of smoke to die down before investigating the cause of the blaze, which started around 7:30 p.m. Feb. 1.

Sriracha District Chief Pornchai Thomkrajang visited the scene after the fire was controlled saying only a few workers suffered smoke inhalation.

Linglong International Tyre opened in 2012 through a 892 million baht partnership between Shandong Linglong Tyre Co., Hong Kong Tian Cheng Investment & Trade, Co. and Kwangsi Linglong Co. It is the Linglong’s first factory outside mainland China.
