PATTAYA, Thailand – Deputy Mayor Manot Nongyai and other city officials launched a street cleaning initiative on December 19 to reduce the levels of PM 2.5 fine particulate matter, a major source of air pollution in the region.
The initiative, which took place along Srichan Road from the Long Bridge to the New Market in Naklua, involved sweeping, washing, and spraying water on the roads to remove dust and fine particles that can harm public health.
The officials, who were joined by representatives from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, said the initiative was part of a broader strategy to combat air pollution in Pattaya actively. They also announced that they would conduct regular sidewalk cleaning and spraying water on plants on the central islands of the city’s road to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
The Deputy Mayor emphasized the importance of community cooperation in solving air pollution issues and urged citizens to adopt environmentally friendly practices. He suggested that people refrain from burning garbage, avoid open fires, use electric stoves, install air purifiers, plant air-purifying plants, reduce personal car usage, regularly check vehicle emissions, and keep a clean home to contribute to the reduction of air pollutants.
