SRI RACHA, Thailand – Authorities in Sri Racha were alerted to a disturbing discovery on December 20, when human remains were found tightly packed inside a paper box in a shipping container undergoing inspection within the customs area of an undisclosed company. The shipment originated from the United States.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Surachit Chingnaworn, Deputy Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 2, and Pol. Col. Surakit Inam, Superintendent of the Sri Racha Police Station led a team of officers from the Chonburi Forensic Science Unit together with rescue personnel to conduct a thorough inspection at the scene.
The location, serving as a sorting point for various paper boxes and metal scraps, revealed the gruesome discovery within one of the containers. Alongside the skeletal remains, officials found black sneakers and bone fragments with sharp edges. The scene was meticulously documented, images were captured, and the remains were collected for a comprehensive forensic examination.
Upon questioning the staff involved in handling the container, it was revealed that the box had been opened, and the compressed paper boxes had been separated into individual pieces since the previous night. The box containing the bones was only discovered upon reaching the innermost part of the container, prompting an immediate notification to the authorities.
Preliminary investigations are currently underway, with all bone fragments submitted for examination to determine the nature of the incident—whether it was a result of foul play or a tragic accident. Simultaneously, inquiries are being made into individuals connected to the container’s handling. Authorities currently suspect that the skeletal remains may belong to a foreign national. Further investigations are expected to provide clarity on this unsettling case.
