The incident happened just an hour before the Pink Line’s scheduled service, with one train stopped near Soi Tiwanon 25 Road.

Early Sunday morning (Dec 24), a section of the Pink Line monorail’s conductor rail fell onto Tiwanon Road in Nonthaburi’s Pak Kret district, damaging three vehicles. No casualties were reported from the incident, which occurred around 5 am.

The collapsed rail, approximately five kilometers long, was part of the monorail system extending from Chon Prathan market to the Khae Rai intersection. The incident also caused damage to a nearby high-power pole.

Vendors at a local market witnessed the collapse, noticing bolts falling before the rail itself came down. The incident happened just an hour before the Pink Line’s scheduled service, with one train stopped near Soi Tiwanon 25 Road.

The Pink Line, running 34.5 kilometers from Bangkok’s Min Buri district to Khae Rai in Nonthaburi, had only started operating last month. Following the incident, the Pink Line management temporarily halted services between the Nonthaburi Civic Center station and the Pak Kret Bypass station. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the collapse. (NNT)
