The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has initiated a new health project aimed at screening at least one million residents of Bangkok for various health conditions. This project was unveiled at the third Bangkok Health Market event at the Lan Khon Muang grounds on Sunday (Dec 24).
Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt presided over the event’s opening ceremony, expressing his hope that citizens would benefit from the free health screening services available in all 50 districts across the city. The goal is to ensure early detection and timely treatment of health issues, with a target to screen a million residents by June of next year.
The event, attended by about 1,000 BMA officials and city residents, offered screenings for various health issues, including office syndrome.
Representatives from various organizations, such as the BMA’s Medical Service Department, medical universities, district offices, the Public Health Ministry, the National Health Security Office, the Social Security Office, and private partners, were also present.
Urging those who attended to inform others about the complimentary health screenings offered by the BMA and its associates, Chadchart stated that the screenings, covering hypertension, diabetes, heart and brain conditions, vascular diseases, HIV, and mental health assessments, will be accessible at all BMA hospitals and health clinics and will be rolled out in various communities monthly. Individuals diagnosed with health conditions will also be presented with certifications, making them eligible for state aid. (NNT)
