Captain Thamanat Prompow, the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, has reported that the flood situation in the southern provinces of Thailand is severe, particularly in the three southern border provinces of Narathiwat, Yala, and Pattani.
He has instructed the Department of Irrigation’s advance team to closely monitor the situation and assist affected residents.
He mentioned that the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is considering relief measures for damaged agricultural areas, mainly rubber plantations. The Rubber Authority of Thailand has been directed to assess the damage, taking into account the duration of the floodwaters.
Furthermore, Captain Thamanat stated that the Prime Minister plans to visit the affected areas to assess the situation personally and has not yet issued any specific orders. He emphasized his directive to the officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, as well as local Members of Parliament, to fully engage in helping the people in the affected areas. (NNT)
