Narathiwat is still heavily inundated, with more than 200,000 local residents affected while seven people have lost their lives, and one person is reported missing.
The flood situation in the Narathiwat province has impacted 13 districts, affecting more than 65,000 households. Out of all 329 schools, 167 schools have been closed, along with 26 mosques and 20 temples. Seven people were killed and an 8-year-old boy remains missing.
While water levels started to recede in the main river basins (Bang Nara and Kolok). However, caution is still required for the Sai Buri River basin.
The meteorological station in Narathiwat has issued another heavy rainfall warning for December 28-29.
Meanwhile, Pattani province is also experiencing road inundation due to rising water levels in both the Pattani River and Sai Buri River, receiving water flow from Yala and Narathiwat provinces.
This continuous inflow has prevented a decrease in water levels, resulting in overflow and flooding of homes and communities. All 10 districts of Pattani province have been affected for the past three days, and the situation remains concerning.
The flooding has also impacted major highways, including the important routes Pattani-Hat Yai, Pattani-Yala, and Pattani-Narathiwat.
The Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office in Pattani has reported the latest figures, indicating that about 51,500 people are facing distress, with one confirmed death and one person still missing.
Additionally, 99 schools and 10 local hospitals, along with 8 religious places, have been affected by the floods. (TNA)
