‘Amazing Muay Thai World Festival 2024’ in Hua Hin is taking place from February 4 to 6.

The Royal Thai Army is set to host the ‘Amazing Muay Thai World Festival 2024’ in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, from February 4 to 6. The event is part of Thailand’s efforts to promote Muay Thai globally and coincides with related activities at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok between February 1 and 5.

Organized in collaboration with various public and private sector entities, including the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Muay Thai organizations, the festival aims to elevate the sport to international standards and develop sports tourism.

According to Army Television and Radio Station (TV5) President Gen Nirandorn Srikacha, the festival, which focuses on promoting the cultural heritage and traditions of Muay Thai, will feature a range of activities showcasing the rich history and customs of Muay Thai. These include a royal ceremony honoring the 7 Kings and King Sanphet VIII, a Muay Thai history exhibition, regional Muay Thai activities, and the ‘Muay Thai Roots to Global Arena’ boxing event.

There will also be a ‘Muay Thai Teacher Consecration Ceremony’, demonstrations of traditional Muay Thai postures, and an exhibition titled ‘Marvels of Muay Thai: From the Roots of Siam to the Global Martial Art Heritage’. The event will also include performances enhanced with lights, colors, and sounds, including drone formations, and promote the Muay Thai industry along with local products and cuisine from Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

February 6, celebrated annually as ‘Muay Thai Day’, is observed as the coronation anniversary of King Sanphet VIII and honors his contribution to the development and popularity of Thai boxing techniques. Once a martial art used in warfare and self-defense, with various styles taught by royalty to the general populace, Muay Thai has evolved into a globally recognized sport, though many of its original styles have faded over time.
