Re: Strong baht affecting tourism (PM Mailbag Friday, 06 February 2015) – Been going for 15 years and have not noticed any significant price increase. From food/drink and accommodation they have all stayed virtually the same. So it is the exchange rate that is slowing the tourism trade. Adding to that is the strength of the £ against the Euro. It is now up to 50% cheaper to vacation in Europe. Plus, we aren’t talking about a 10% increase in the exchange rate. Since I’ve been coming the rate has dropped 33%, while the flights have increased 50%. With those increases is it any wonder that people are holidaying closer to home?
