30,000 athletes to participate in ‘Buriram Marathon 2024’ on Jan 27

Governor of Buriram province Narucha Kosacivilize, along with the Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Buriram Office, the Athletic Association of Thailand Patron: His Majesty the King, and local residents, warmly welcome runners from around the world who will be participating in the Buriram Marathon 2024. The grand event is set to kick off on January 27, featuring a globally recognized Gold Label marathon, and this marathon is also the world’s first Gold Label night run.



Narucha stated that this marks the 8th edition of the Buriram Marathon, and the organizers are well-prepared for the event. They express ambitious plans to elevate it to Platinum Label status in the coming years.

For this year’s preparations, approximately 30,000 athletes, along with various staff members, have registered for the event, totaling around 100,000 people.



One of the highlights of the event is the vibrant presence of cheerleading teams on a global scale, with a massive contingent of up to 17,000 individuals stationed at 43 designated cheer points. This promises to be a grand and impressive aspect of the competition, showcasing Buriram’s identity and emphasizing various aspects of cultural arts.

In preparation for the influx of tourists, Buriram province has readied tourism facilities across all 23 districts, including accommodations, hotels, restaurants, and various amenities. The competition is anticipated to boost the local economy by a substantial amount, achieving no less than 700 million baht. (NNT)
