I have just read a letter by Pilford De Chips in reference to the above headline. Unfortunately in my case having quoted the Motor Vehicle Act: Section 42-2, Pattaya City police do not know, or indeed know their own traffic regulations. I was emphatically told that that UK foreign nationals, when driving in Thailand must hold a IDP in addition to their own country licence.
Now, if this is correct and there seems to be massive ambiguity in relation to this subject, we need a definitive answer as it appears there now seems to be different definitions.
It certainly needs looking into in my opinion and it is not a good situation when visitors to Pattaya are aware of the law, yet the enforcers of it do not.
Please, can anyone in an official capacity clear this up once and for all?
