China’s National Immigration Administration has announced an expansion of its visa-free entry policy for Hainan province, now including Thai nationals among citizens from dozens of countries. Effective immediately, travelers can visit Hainan without a visa for up to 30 days for a variety of purposes, including business, tourism, family reunions, medical treatment, exhibitions, and sports events.
However, work and study activities are excluded from this policy.
The list of eligible countries spans across continents, including major European nations like the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, as well as North American countries such as the United States and Canada, and Asian countries including South Korea, Japan, and Singapore, among others. The policy adjustment aims to support the ongoing reform and development of Hainan, emphasizing its role as a Free Trade Port.
Travelers can enter and exit through all international ports in Hainan, with their activities confined within the province’s administrative boundaries. The stay period calculation begins the day after entry. The administration also clarified that the existing 30-day visa-free entry for tourism will remain in effect.
This policy expansion is part of China’s broader strategy to open up to international visitors, aligning with the country’s ambition to promote a high level of openness and quality development.
