Big Dave Stockman and Aussie starlet Lou ‘Zigzag’ Szigligeti were co-men of the match as they posted joint best scores of the day of 39 points in A Flight and C Flight respectively. Lou was followed in the junior flight by Jim Lanzo and Nick ‘Elvis’ Shaw, both with solid even par rounds and the resulting count back declared that Jim receive the silver and Nick the bronze.

Dave, in the senior flight, was trailed in by Neil King a shot back and Chris Setchell a further shot back. Chris’s podium slot was almost lost save for a beneficial count back over Ed ‘our man in the White House’ Wyckoff and Peter ‘the right honourable’ LeNoury.
Peter Ennis found his winning ways in B Flight with a sound 38 points as he edged the Donkey by a single stroke, who in turn was a shot clear of the even par rounds of Christian Boysen and Phil ‘the Welsh Wonder’ Davies. Christian has been on the podium too many times to lose a count back and he proved it once again this time.
Peter Kelly converted both his near pins and shared the 2’s pot with Dave Stockman, Connie Walsh, Christian Boysen, Lou zigzag and William Peach.
Monday, Feb. 16, Khao Kheow A & B – Stableford

Two non-members led the field over the testing A & B courses at the beautiful presented Khao Kheow. John Nalty in A Flight won with 40 points and Jim Crook in B Flight with 38, but as they are non-members they did not qualify for the main flight prizes.
A Flight was therefore gifted to Neil King with his fine 37 points. Neil led a pair of players tied on 34 points and the luck of the Irish prevailed as Connie Walsh counted up better on the back-nine, leaving Ausie Greg Bates with the bronze.
Peter Ennis was the lucky recipient in B Flight as he made it two top place finishes on the trot with a steady even par round. The duet of Walter Baechli and Frank O’Hara were log-jammed on 34 points, with Walter having the better of the count back.
The second best counting score of the day was in C Flight, John O’Neil with a fine 38 points, and he was two clear of Aiden Murray and a further two clear of Goran Asp.

Tuesday, Feb. 17, Burapha C & D – Stableford

A return to Burapha proved to be as popular as ever with a very nice turnout battling for the honours. At the end of the day, Christian Boysen destroyed the lower handicappers in A Flight with a 45-point masterpiece for the man of the match honours and a visit to see the handicap committee, but well done to Chris Setchell with a steady even par round good for the flight silver and Bruce Anderson with a fair 35 points for the third.
In B Flight it was Scotland’s Reg McKay who continues to find his form and got to stand on the top spot on the podium with his very steady 35 points. That score was three clear of Chris Reed who edged Peter Terry for the silver by a stroke.
Ireland’s Terry ‘pork chop’ Mangan, who is starting to play consistently and overcome a period of relative dormancy, posted a splendid 38 points to head C Flight. Marcus Earp shot a solid even par round to take the second step on the podium and Graham Buckingham made a rare appearance and walked off with the flight bronze.
No 2’s were recorded so it’s a rollover to Wednesday.
Wednesday, Feb. 18, Royal Lakeside – Stableford

John Nalty won A Flight for the second match in a row with his 39 points and did not qualify for the count back that would have followed because he is still not a member. Flight mate Chris Setchell gratefully accepted the gold with his 39 while Maurice Goyons and Adam Barton were stretched out behind Chris in single digits.
Two further 39 pointers were recorded in B Flight with the top spot going to Goran Asp. Irishman Sean Soden took the silver as pay window expert Aiden Murray closed the flight with a fine 38 points.
Nick Shaw was on song as he slotted home the only 2 of the day to claim the rollover pot.
Friday, Feb. 20, Treasure Hill – Stableford

Two non-members were the stars in A Flight; Joe Lavalle with 35 points and Peter Kearney on 32, gifting the top spot to a grateful Jeff Acheson with 31 as Chris Setchell took the silver a shot adrift. Dominic Downey went into the record book with the lowest ever A Flight podium score of 24 points and a count back was not required for him to take that honour as Kevin Lacey, Liam Hannerty and Luke Glyn are all non-members also.
B Flight was not to be outdone as they were also led in by a non-member, Willie Harty, with the second best score of the day, a solid 37 points. Big Kevin Hamilton accepted the gold with a large grin as he was two clear of David Dunne. A count back would also had been needed if Paul Robinson had not forgotten to renew his membership, leaving Chris Reed and his 30 points to close the flight.
C Flight provided the man of the match in the shape of Irishman John Hartigan, who is certainly a member, with a sparkling 39 points. John was six clear of Marcus Earp on 33 with pay window regular Aiden Murray left to tidy up the flight with 31.
Kevin Hamilton, David Dune, Colm O’Donavan and Aiden Murray shared the 2’s pot.
