Officials from more than 20 agencies inspected the fishing fleets in Sattahip’s Samae San Sub-district to look for human trafficking.

Region 1 Chief of Staff Charanvee Yadee led the Feb. 24 delegation to the fishing town to check working conditions on fishing boats, marine operators and other businesses at the Suwit Pier. He also announced plans to establish checkpoints at the port and bridge leading to the harbor to catch illegal migrants and traffickers.

A check of 10 boats found no illegal migrants and all had work permits.

During the operation, a navy special operations boat closed the Samae San estuary to search for illegal fishing vessels. The crab-harvesting boat Rungprasertsup was captured and its captain and three crewmen were arrested.
