30 airlines join ‘Air-mazing Thailand’ campaign

Tourism and Sports Minister Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol expressed hopes that the initiative would encourage airlines to recognize the potential of Thai airports in the post-pandemic world and to consider establishing additional routes that include both major and emerging provincial destinations.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched the ‘Air-mazing Thailand’ campaign, attracting 30 international airlines to explore the capabilities of selected airports and untapped markets within the country. Running from April 2 to 5, the campaign aligns with the government’s strategy to boost tourism in second-tier provinces and establish Thailand as a premier global tourism destination.



Tourism and Sports Minister Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol expressed hopes that the initiative would encourage airlines to recognize the potential of Thai airports in the post-pandemic world and to consider establishing additional routes that include both major and emerging provincial destinations.

By directing international flights to less congested airports beyond the three largest ones, including Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, and Phuket, the effort aims to distribute tourism income more evenly across the country and alleviate overcrowding at urban airports.



TAT will later guide airline representatives on tours of two sets of airports. One tour will visit Chiang Mai and U-Tapao international airports, while the other will explore Krabi, Surat Thani, and Samui airports. Thailand boasts 39 airports in total, with 10 classified as international, including those in major cities and key tourist destinations. (NNT)
