An electrical conductor rail of the elevated Yellow Line monorail system fell off the track between the Kalantan Station and the Suan Luang Rama IX Station in Bangkok’s Prawet district on March 28, leading to the suspension of the train service until midnight.

Passengers have been evacuated from the train safely. The incident caused damage to three vehicles, with no reported injuries. Eastern Bangkok Monorail Company Limited (EBM), the service provider, is responsible for compensation and damages.

The monorail service is currently suspended until midnight for inspection and repair to ensure safety. The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) has coordinated to provide alternative bus services along the Yellow Line route.

The incident is another mishap occurring to the Yellow Line after in January this year, a rubber wheel fell off a train and hit a taxi in Samut Prakan. No casualties were reported.

The 30-km Yellow Line runs along Lat Phrao Road and Srinakarin Road between Bangkok and Samut Prakan. It started its commercial service in July last year. (TNA)
