Vikrom Kromadit, founder and CEO of Amata Corporation, discussed sectors poised for growth in Thailand, with a particular emphasis on the Electric Vehicle (EV) industry.

This sector, according to Vikrom, is not limited to manufacturing but also extends to research and development of electric vehicles and the integration of conventional engines. He sees the EV sector as still ripe for growth, given its transitional phase, and believes that the production of hybrid vehicles will continue to expand.

Vikrom underscored the importance of aiming for high-tech advancements and leveraging technology more extensively across industries.

Furthermore, Vikrom noted a shift away from labor-intensive companies towards sectors like the food industry, which faces challenges from global warming and production issues. He advocated for a focus on organic food production and processing.

In the medical field, Thailand stands as the world’s second-largest in medical revenue, trailing only behind the United States. Thanks to top-tier universities and cutting-edge technology, as well as partnerships with U.S. hospitals, Thailand has excelled in medicine. Vikrom is optimistic about the future of Thai medicine, especially with the potential boost from increased tourism.

He highlighted that Thai medical technology is now recognized globally, and with openness to new technologies, the country could see significant advancements, potentially increasing medical revenue to account for 10-20% of Thailand’s GDP. Unlike the hotel sector, the medical industry requires less space but can accommodate a larger number of people. (NNT)
