The Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) has announced the adjustment of its passenger service charge (PSC) for international passengers from 700 baht per person to 730 baht per person and for domestic passengers from 100 baht per person to 130 baht per person. The adjusted PSC has been in effect from 1 April 2024 onwards, and is included in the passengers’ air ticket price. The PSC is applied in six international airports, namely Suvarnabhumi airport, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Mae-Fah Luang Chiang Rai, Phuket, and Hat Yai.
The purpose of the higher PSC charge is to cover the service of the Common Use Passenger Processing System (CUPPS), which has been brought into use at the six airports. The automated CUPPS service helps enhance service at check-in counters, reduces passengers’ waiting time at check-in areas, and enables them to check in six to twelve hours before departure. CUPPS also helps passengers load baggage on their own.
“Regarding the revenue from the PSC collection, the laws and regulations require airport operators to use the PSC revenue to develop the airports, providing and improving various facilities and airport safety maintenance in accordance with international airport standards, including the development of technology applied at every airport,” Kerati Kijmanawat, the president of AOT, said.
