CHIANG MAI, 27 March 2015  The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Chiang Mai Office is expected to take serious action against drunk drivers during Songkran Festival this year.

According to the DDPM, the ‘Drink, Drive and get Arrested’ campaign has been organized with an aim to reduce road fatalities in Chiang Mai.

The measure comes on the heels of the province recording the highest road death toll in the country during the recent New Year celebration period. The campaign, which begins from April 1st, will be enforced more stringently from April 9th until April 15th, the last day of the festive season.
