Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin arrived at the Élysée Palace and received a warm welcome from French President Emmanuel Macron. The meeting marked their second encounter in three months, following their first meeting in March.
The two leaders held bilateral talks and attended a luncheon. The Thai Prime Minister posted a message and photos from the meeting, noting progress in several areas, including trade, investment, and soft power, with a focus on business. He expressed gratitude for the warm reception from France. During their discussions, they exchanged personal contact information to facilitate quicker coordination.
The Thai Prime Minister referenced their first meeting in March, during which he promised to bring business representatives for discussions—a promise he has now fulfilled.
Key topics covered in the talks included the Free Trade Agreement, electric vehicles, Visa-Free Schengen access, tourism, increasing flight connections, clean energy, and the next Business Forum, which will be held in Thailand in September.
France will also send a delegation of business leaders and nuclear power experts to Thailand for a meeting. Next year, France will host an AI conference to which Thailand is invited. Defense and the situation between Hamas and Israel were also discussed, with France supporting a temporary ceasefire and proposing the Olympics as a platform for countries to call for a ceasefire.
Prime Minister Srettha concluded that this half-day visit to France was highly beneficial for Thailand, fostering greater cooperation and stronger ties between the two nations. (NNT)
